Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Says “Nothing Bitter” About ‘Wonder Man’ Experience

Marvel fans got some disappointing news earlier this summer when Marvel announced that Wonder Man was not being renewed for a second season.

The news was particularly depressing because Marvel had announced a second season of the series just four months earlier.

After the announcement, speculation ran rampant about why Marvel had suddenly changed course.

The prevailing theory was that creator Destin Daniel Cretton had become too busy with other projects to continue the series.

That speculation, however, was subsequently put to rest when showrunner Andrew Guest took to TikTok and explained that Marvel and Disney had simply decided not to move forward.

Abdul-Mateen’s Initial Comments

After news of Marvel’s reversal broke, Wonder Man star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II took to Instagram to thank fans for their support.

Word just dropped that Wonder Man won’t be coming back for Season 2. (And if you don’t knowww, now ya knoww! 😬) That’s life, right? Everything will shake out,” he began.

“I wanted to say thank you to everybody who WATCHED the show, ENJOYED the show, and SHARED that they enjoyed the show in some way or other. The show worked. And that’s my favorite thing about it.”

Now, Abdul-Mateen has weighed in again.

“Nothing Bitter About This Experience”

During a recent interview with SYFY, Yahya Abdul-Mateen once again broke his silence on Wonder Man’s cancellation.

“Nothing bitter about this experience. I’m blessed,” Yahya shared, alongside By Any Means costar Mark Wahlberg, in their exclusive chat with SYFY Wire. “I got to play the role. I feel like I had the best seat in the house.”

While Wonder Man will not continue, there is still a chance that we will see Simon Williams again.
