Superman box office projections targeting $140M-$185M opening

The Superman box office projections are in for the opening weekend, and things are looking promising.

BoxOfficeTheory has released its projections for the opening weekend of Superman in the U.S. Currently, it’s placing the film’s opening weekend box office between $140 million and $185 million.

The wide range is due in part to the Amazon screenings on July 8 skewing the first day of general pre-sales. While the sales for the July 8 early screenings were a huge success, it slowed the general sales a bit, which opened up the following day.

This film is going to have an uphill battle when it comes to bringing in the casual viewers. Luckily, it has a pretty clear runway in its second weekend with the only new releases being Eddington, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Smurfs. The third weekend is where the real issues kick in as it will face off against the opening of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

For now, the Superman box office projections look positive, and there are still four weeks to win over more casual viewers with marketing and reviews.

Superman will serve as the first live-action entry expressly made for the new DCU.  In addition to seeing Superman, the film will include the first appearances of Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, Cat Grant, Steve Lombard, Lex Luthor, Eve Teschmacher, Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, Metamorpho, Guy Gardner, the Engineer, and Krypto the Superdog. Some rumors have indicated we will also see the first appearance of Supergirl, who is set to be played by Milly Alcock. She will then appear in her own film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

The cast of Superman is set to include David Corenswet as Superman, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. They will all be joined by Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, María Gabriela de Faría as the Engineer , Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher MacDonald as Ron Troupe, and Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard.

Superman will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
