After a historic debut at the box office, all eyes were on Spider-Man: Brand New Day this weekend to see if it could keep the momentum going.
As a quick recap, Brand New Day is the 38th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The latest Spider-Man adventure picks up Peter Parker’s story after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Over its debut weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day rewrote the history books. By the time the dust settled, the film had delivered the biggest opening day in box office history, the biggest domestic opening weekend ever, and helping propel movie theaters to their highest-grossing weekend of all time.

Another Historic Weekend
Peter Parker once again dominated the box office last weekend, adding another $145 million to its domestic haul.

That number gives the film the third-biggest sophomore weekend ever, behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($149 million) and Avengers: Endgame ($147 million).
Only eight films have ever surpassed $100 million in a domestic second weekend.

As of this writing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has made an astounding $1.67 billion at the box office. Domestically, the film has earned an astounding $655 million.
What’s Next?
While it remains to be seen how high Spidey can swing, the film has an outside chance of becoming the first movie to make $1 billion at the domestic box office.

Globally, the film will be chasing Avatar ($2.9 billion) and Avengers: Endgame ($2.7 billion) to become the highest-grossing film of all time.
