Jake Schreier Comments on Those Persistent X-Men Rumors

While Marvel’s Thunderbolts* was not the box office blockbuster many had hoped for, it was lauded by fans and critics alike.

The task of introducing the new super team to the MCU and juggling the film’s eclectic cast of characters fell to director Jake Schreier. He deftly handled the assignment and gave each Thunderbolt the chance to shine.

Following Schreier’s success with Thunderbolts*, rumors quickly abounded that the director would be handed the reins of the first MCU X-Men film.

While a recent Variety article seemingly confirmed the news, Marvel has yet to make an official announcement.

Schreier Shares His Vision For the X-Men

During a recent interview with Collider at the Mediterranean Film Festival, Schreier was asked about his potential future role at Marvel.

While the director would neither confirm nor deny that he will helm the MCU’s X-Men film, he did share his thoughts on the project.

“Even if I were confirmed on that movie, I don’t think I would be allowed to answer that question,” Schreier said. “I guess what I would say is that it always starts from character and working with great writers and collaborators, and certainly thinking about how to do something different with any project that you take on. That’s as much as I can say.”

After seeing how well Schreier handled Thunderbolts*, fans have every reason to be excited about his take on X-Men. For now, however, we will have to wait and see what the future holds.
