MARVEL.COM: In Avengers: Armageddon #2, readers witnessed David Colton’s new powers in a brutal battle against the Red Hulk. Why did you and your collaborators decide to showcase the scope of Colton’s abilities in this way?
ZDARSKY: Yeah, it’s to really showcase that there’s new guy in town and he’s on another level. Colton and Ross have history from my Captain America (2025) run, so having them tee off is a thing I’ve been building towards for a while now.
MARVEL.COM: There was an interesting exchange between David Colton and the Winter Soldier at the end of the issue. How do the other heroes feel about Colton after the events of Avengers: Armageddon #2?
ZDARSKY: Oh man, Delio and Frank killed it in that scene. Bucky’s been through a lot. As a soldier, as someone who’s been manipulated, as a man willing to go to extremes to save the world. When he sees Colton, maybe he sees a kindred spirit. The rest of the heroes see a soldier with too much power, making decisions they would never make.
