BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Zayn Malik unite for emotional duet, fans call it a ‘Poetry’

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Zayn Malik have officially joined forces for the first time on their new single Eyes Closed, released today, October 10. The ballad grasps the passionate intensity of two voices rarely heard together. Fans are loving the beautiful song, and social media is buzzing about their music video and chemistry.

On Friday, October 10, the BLACKPINK superstar and former One Direction heartthrob teamed up for a dreamy, cosmic duet titled Eyes Closed, through Blissoo and Warner Records, which dropped alongside a sleek, outer-space video. Eyes Closed is a wistful and cinematic love song built around the lyric we should fall in love with our eyes closed. It explores themes of trust, vulnerability, and letting go of past pain.

In the outer space visual, the pair float through a spaceship, drifting from separate corners before finally finding each other mid-orbit to harmonise on the chorus. Both Jisoo and Zayn have been teasing the new song for some time now, sharing videos and clips of the track and its lyrics.

How did this collaboration happen?

The collaboration stems from an unexpected connection. Zayn reportedly attended BLACKPINK’s Deadline World Tour earlier this year with his daughter, inspiring mutual admiration that might have been a hint of this duet.

Fans reaction

Fans are going insane on social media for the song and music video. One fan posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), “JISOO WITH ZAYN OH MY GOD”

Another fan posted, “JISOO AND ZAYN??? THIS GAVE ME CHILLS EYES CLOSED OUT NOW “

One fan even complimented the music video by posting, “JISOO AND ZAYN MALIK IN A FCKING SPACE SHIP OH YES”

Another fan posted, “zayn saying ‘someone like me’ and jisoo replying ‘someone like you’ in the first prechorus and them switching lines in the bridge….. POETRY…”

Jisoo and Zayn’s career

For Jisoo, Eyes Closed follows the massive success of her debut solo EP Amortage, which dropped in February under her own label Blissoo. The four-track project topped the Circle Album Chart, selling over 523,000 copies in its first week, and reached No. 1 on Billboard’s World Albums Sales Chart. Its lead single, Earthquake, was an international hit, marking a confident start to her solo career. The new track comes several months before Zayn is set to host his Las Vegas residency in mid-January, and also a week after he announced that he’ll link with One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson for a Netflix series.
