Filmmaker Boney Kapoor filed a complaint in the Madras High Court, saying that three people had been illegally claiming the property of his late wife, actress Sridevi, in Chennai. According to The Hindu, Kapoor entered a plea and disclosed information on a purported “fraud” committed by the three people. Boney Kapoor informed the court that on April 19, 1988, Sridevi bought the property from M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar. This father had two daughters and three sons. In February 1960, a consensual agreement was made by the family members about the distribution of the property. Sridevi bought the home on the basis of this arrangement.

Three individuals, however, have recently asserted claims to this land. One of these three is a woman who says she is the second wife of one of Mr Mudaliar’s three sons; the other two are her sons.

Dispute over Mudaliar heirship lands in court

Boney Kapoor brought up the second wife’s alleged February 5, 1975 marriage date in his petition. As a result, her union with Mudaliar’s son is illegal because his first wife passed away on June 24, 1999.

Also, Boney Kapoor questioned the tax official’s authority to grant the three people a legal heirship certificate and requested that the court immediately cancel it.

After hearing Boney Kapoor’s appeal, Justice N. Anand Venkatesh gave the Tambaram Taluk Tahsildar four weeks to make the decision.
