WHO IS DANGER?
Through Professor X’s connections with the Shi’ar, he considerably upgraded the Danger Room, giving it the ability to use holographic projections to create entire physical environments, obstacles, and enemies within the chamber. As an unintended side effect of this overhaul, the Danger Room developed its own sentience, albeit one initially still confined to the chamber and its rigid programming. When Professor X became aware of this development, he consulted the Shi’ar, who assured him that the advanced machinery gaining self-awareness was an impossibility.
When Danger eventually gained enough power to openly rebel against the X-Men, she initially kept her true nature a secret until launching a surprise attack on the mutant community. Eventually, Danger came face-to-face with Charles Xavier in X-MEN LEGACY (2008) #222 by Mike Carey and Scot Eaton. The two characters reconciled in subsequent issues after Xavier helped repair the self-aware mechanical being just in time to take on a mutual enemy. Since then, Danger has become a wary frenemy of the X-Men, occasionally a friend and ally, though tensions between the two parties remain apparent.
