
Val Kilmer, known for many roles, such as Bruce Wayne in Batman Forever and Doc Holliday in Tombstone, has passed away at the age of 65.
His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, said that her father passed away due to pneumonia.
Kilmer was born on Dec. 31, 1959, in Los Angeles, California. He made his television debut in 1983 in an ABC After School Special, “One Too Many.” A year later he would make his film debut in the comedy Top Secret!.
The 1980s proved to be a massive decade for the actor. 1983’s Real Genius cemented his comedy acting. In 1986, he gained a much larger notoriety playing Lt. Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky in Top Gun. He followed this up with Madmartigan in Willow.
While the 80s kept him busy, the success continued well into the 1990s with turns as Jim Morrison in The Doors, and Doc Holliday in Tombstone.
In 1995, he took a turn as Bruce Wayne and Batman in Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever, a film that remains divisive amongst fans to this day.
Kilmer was hospitalized in 2015 for a possible tumor. It was revealed in 2017 that he had gone through two years of treatment for throat cancer By 2020, he reported being cancer-free, but the damage done to his throat left him nearly unable to speak.
