While we know that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will assemble for the events of Avengers: Endgame, the future of another iconic Marvel team is less clear.

I am, of course, talking about the Young Avengers.

The last time we got any update on Marvel’s teenage superhero team, Kamala Khan was inviting Kate Bishop to join her squad in The Marvels post-credit scene. During the course of the conversation, she mentioned Cassie Lang as another possible recruit.

Since that time, Marvel has told the stories of other potential Young Avengers, including Ironheart, also known as Riri Williams, and Wiccan, also known as Billy Maximoff.

Nevertheless, we have yet to see the team officially form.

Marvel’s Original Plan

Finally, last year, Michael Waldron revealed that the original plans for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty would have featured a scene of the Young Avengers defeating a Kang variant on his first day.

Despite the indications that the Young Avengers will form, none of the potential team members were named as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast.

That, however, has not stopped fans from speculating that the team will assemble.

Kathryn Newton Weighs In

During a recent conversation with ComicBook, Kathryn Newton, who portrays Cassie Lang in the MCU, was asked about the possibility of returning for Doomsday.

Newton, of course, was previously spotted wearing an Avengers: Doomsday crew hat.

Despite her wardrobe choice, the Ant-Man star played coy about her MCU future.

“Marvel is so big and big in my heart. It’s a big universe, so who is to say what could happen?”

While Newton did not dive into any specifics about her future, she did talk about her love of Marvel.

“I don’t know anything. I recently went to Disneyland, and it’s always fun to go see Ant-Man over there. Sometimes there’s a Cassie Lang walking around,” she said.

“Did you know when I was 8-years-old… I’m not sure when Iron Man came out… I’ve been an actress since I was 4. I saw Iron Man, and I walked out of that theater, and I was like, ‘That’s a movie star. If I want to be a movie star, I’ve got to do a Marvel movie.’”

Time Is Ticking

If Marvel wants to take advantage of its next generation of stars, the time for the Young Avengers is now.

Should the team not assemble in Avengers: Doomsday, fans will have to hope that the big moment comes in Secret Wars.

For now, we will have to wait and see.
