Upcoming Comics May 28, 2025

Welcome back to Upcoming Comics! It’s a pretty short one this week (at least for bat books), but some would argue what’s left is the true Trinity of DC Comics: Batman, Harley Quinn, and a crossover event.

Upcoming Comics

Batman #160

The gentleman’s name is Silence, and his alliance with Hush will destroy Batman!

  • Written By: Jeph Loeb
  • Art By: Jim Lee

Thoughts: Will it, though?

Batman News Critic: Jackson

Justice League Unlimited #7

“We Are Yesterday” Part Five (of six) Unlimited no more?! The Justice League is fractured throughout time as the Legion of Doom achieves the unthinkable…the siege of the Watchtower! As Gorilla Grodd’s attack intensifies, it’ll be up to one hero to call in the cavalry, and it is not who you think! Destruction, redemption, and a cavalcade of chaos culminate in this penultimate chapter of “We Are Yesterday,” a special crossover with Batman/Superman: World’s Finest!

  • Written By: Mark Waid
  • Art By: Travis G. Moore

Thoughts: So I guess all the actually important plot stuff is happening on the JLU side of this crossover.

Batman News Critic: Akash/Jackson

Harley Quinn #51

Long has humanity wondered who would win in a battle between impulsive clown, giant sentient brain, and two gun-loving best buddies. Look no further! As of May 2025, the results are in! So, uhhh, order this comic now if you want to see who wins. It’s time to go on safari!!!!! Also: some real racy stuff happens! Bring your fire-resistant jumpers, ’cause it’s about to get hot!

  • Written By: Elliott Kalan
  • Art By: Mirka Andolfo

Thoughts: These solicits are getting even worse.

Batman News Critic: Jack

Beyond the Bat

Welcome to Beyond the Bat, where we take a quick look at the rest of DC’s comics coming out this week.

Graphic Novel Watch

Sometimes you need more than floppies. Sometimes you want something that can sit nicely on your shelf that proudly displays your favorite stories. That’s when you turn to graphic novels. Let’s see what bat collections are coming out this week:

Ratings

Most Excited: Justice League Unlimited #7– I’ve had some mixed feelings on this crossover so far, but for the most part it’s been fun.

Least Excited: Harley Quinn #51– Cool cover notwithstanding, nothing about this book that’s presented every month makes me want to read it.

Wild Card: Batman #160– I won’t sugar coat it, last issue was rough, but there’s at least hope that things could turn around

Well that’s it for this week! Let us know in the comments what comics you’re looking forward to.
