After years of waiting, Marvel’s First Family has finally entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
“Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet,” the film’s synopsis reads.
“Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”

After the disappointing releases of Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*, Marvel needs The Fantastic Four to be a hit.
Luckily, so far things look good.
‘The Fantastic Four’s’
Last night, The Fantastic Four: First Steps grossed $24.4 million in previews, delivering the best preview frame of 2025. The previous high-water mark was Superman, which grossed $22.5 million.

As things stand, The Fantastic Four is tracking towards a $100 million to $110 million opening weekend at domestic theaters. Overseas, the film is expected to add another $90 million to its debut.
In addition to its strong debut, First Steps has also received overwhelmingly positive critical reviews.
Based on the current trajectory, the film should be able to sustain its momentum and deliver an extended box office run.
