James Gunn has been confirmed to both write and direct the next film in the Superman Super-Family series.
Following the investor’s letter on Thursday morning, which confirmed Gunn is writing the next Super-Family film, it has now been confirmed he will also direct it.
During the Warner Bros. Discovery earnings call on Thursday, CEO David Zaslav confirmed that Gunn will be directing “the next installment in the Super-Family.” What exactly that film is remains to be seen.
Gunn had previously confirmed that he was writing a film that heavily features David Corenswet’s Superman, but that he would not classify it as a sequel.
With Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow due to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, one can easiy imagine that the film will be some form of team-up between the cousins. What enemy the two of them will face remains to be seen.
No timeline for the new film’s release has been announced as of yet.
