Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja recently shared her views on her husband’s life, she goes unfiltered about Govinda’s Read on to know more.
Popular Box Office sensation and king of comedy star, once ruled Bollywood in the 90s and early 20s, Govinda has been out of the spotlight in the mainstream Bollywood for years with no significant hit for the past many years. His last film, Rangeela Raja, released in 2019, was a massive flop at the box office as it failed to recover its budget. Gocinda has been missing from the successful big-screen film for over a decade now. He was last seen in his popular hit film Partner, which was released nearly 20 years ago, in 2007. Talking about Govinda’s career, Sunita Ahuja delivered an unfiltered take on the matter.
In a conversation with The Powerful Humans, Sunita pointed out the effect of being surrounded by sycophants who fail to offer constructive criticism. “Why has Govinda not been seen in 17 years? The problem is that his circle is the wrong one. It’s a wrong circle. Today, my fights with him are because I can’t lie, and I do not appreciate flattery. Today, he has four people – a writer, a musician, a secretary, and a lawyer friend. They are of no use. They only say ‘wah, wah!’ If he makes music, they say ‘wah, wah… kalam kar diya.’ They should tell him the truth. When I tell him the truth, he gets upset.”
Apart from this, Sunita also criticised her husband’s outdated approach to films. She said, “I tell him the 90s era is over. It is 2025. Look at what’s working on Netflix and digital platforms. But he stays with his ‘wah, wah‘ production. I told him, Change your circle. For as long as you have these 4–5 people, they won’t let you go forward.”
Superstar Govinda was known for his comedy thriller films and popular songs with catchy dance numbers. He has been part of several hits films including Coolie No 1, Hero No. 1, Deewana Mastana, Dulhe Raja, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Hassena Maan Jaayegi and others.
