After DC All In, the threat of Darkseid has been looming over the entire DC Universe. Fans have been speculating as to how the heroes would next challenge the menacing ruler of Apokolips before he dooms the multiverse. If anyone guessed “in a bracket-style fighting tournament where the winner goes up against Darkseid” then congratulations on your impeccable foresight:
Heroes will rise. Legends will fall. It’s time for a cosmic throwdown! DC today announced its next comic book event by co-architects Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder: DC K.O.! This fall, the gloves come off as the greatest superheroes in the universe enter the arena in a thunderous tournament where the stakes are sky-high, and the cost of victory may be too steep to bear. Starting in October, this publishing event puts heroes to the ultimate test of strength, loyalty, and knock-down, drag-out brawls. Which 36 fighters will enter the tournament of champions? Who will rise through the brackets and rival Darkseid against his ever-growing Omega powers? And what sinister secret lies at the absolute heart of Apokolips? Get ready for the most fun you’ll have all year (at a death tournament)!
DC’s new crossover event, titled DC K.O., comes out this October and will feature the world’s greatest heroes fighting in a gladiatorial arena that has emerged from the Earth. Each of its five descending levels will pit the combatants against each other as they gather enough “Omega Energy” to challenge Darkseid and be crowned the new King Omega. The stakes couldn’t be higher, as Darkseid has already destroyed the future and has evolved into something more powerful than ever before.
According to writers Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson, DC K.O. will focus on Superman the same way Metal was a Batman story and Death Metal was a Wonder Woman story. They promise a personal story where he will explore his own “heart of darkness” underneath all of the explosive action of the event.
The event begins with Justice League: The Omega Act #1, a 48-page one-shot prelude where Time Trapper will flee Darkseid’s legions in order to warn the Justice League that the future has been lost. After that, the main story will take place over the 5-issue DC K.O. miniseries publishing through early 2026. Tying into the series this October will be Titans #28, Superman #31, The Flash #26, and Justice League Unlimited #12.
Justice League: The Omega Act #1 goes on sale October 1
DC K.O. #1 goes on sale October 8
Titans #28 goes on sale October 15
Superman #31, The Flash #26, and Justice League Unlimited #12 go on sale October 22
