Sholay—The Final Cut
Sholay is rereleasing in around 1500 screens across India on December 12, 2025. The movie will go by the name of Sholay—The Final Cut. It is going to have the original ending of the film, which was changed.
Sholay’s cast
The film casts Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra as the iconic duo of Jai and Veeru, respectively. Sanjeev Kumar plays the antagonist of the film as Thakur Baldev Singh. The role of bubbly and outspoken Basanti is played by Hema Malini.
Sholay’s box office collection
There are several big-budget, star-studded films in Bollywood that haven’t been able to cross the Rs. 1500 crore mark when it comes to earning. However, Sholay had a whopping Rs. 50 crore worldwide collection at that time. Accounting for inflation, that figure reaches up to Rs. 3000-3090 crore in today’s day.
Dangal
The highest-earning film in all of Bollywood is Dangal, which collected Rs. 2070. Comparing Sholay’s earnings in today’s scenario, it still earned almost Rs. 1000 crore less.
Jawan and Pathaan
Shah Rukh Khan’s biggest film, Jawan, collected Rs. 1150 crore. Meanwhile, Pathaan collected 1050 crore rupees. Sholay’s earnings in today’s times are almost three times more than Jawan’s.
Baahubali 2 collection
Released in 2017, the film Baahubali 2 earned Rs. 1788 crore worldwide. Sholay’s collection is 1200 crore rupees more than Baahubali 2.
Pushpa 2
Released in 2024, Allu Arjun’s film Pushpa 2 created havoc at the box office and collected Rs. 1742 crore. ISholay’s earnings become almost double those of Pushpa 2.
