Congratulations, Simon Williams.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has earned an Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Marvel Television’s Wonder Man. This is his second nomination, after he previously won for his role in Watchmen.
Abdul-Mateen stars in Wonder Man as aspiring actor Simon Williams, who struggles to launch his Hollywood career. Along the way, he crosses paths with fellow actor Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), and the two strike up an unlikely friendship — especially when Simon learns that celebrated director Von Kovak (Zlatko Burić) is remaking his favorite childhood Super Hero film, the 1980s cult classic Wonder Man.
Earlier this year, Marvel Television announced that Wonder Man will return for a second season, with series co-creators Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest both returning for Season 2.
The first season debuted in January to critical and popular acclaim, earning a stellar 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The full season is available to stream now on Disney+.
The live-action Spider-Noir series also scored 10 Emmy nominations, including nods for outstanding stunt performance, stunt coordination, production design, cinematography, title design, prosthetic makeup, original music and lyrics, sound editing, sound mixing, and special visual effects.
Spider-Noir is produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video, based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man Noir. The series stars Nicolas Cage as the titular private investigator Ben Reilly, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only Super Hero.
