While walking the Red Carpet before the Emmys, Matt Reeves shared some updates on The Batman: Part II and when it may begin filming.

Reeves was attending the Emmy Awards in support of The Penguin, which is up for multiple awards. Variety asked for some updates on The Batman: Part II, which Reeves gladly answered.

“The script is done,” shared Reeves. “We’re all excited.” But what does the cast think of it? “You know, we’ve started to share it with, Rob.I don’t know if I was supposed to say that, but Rob was super excited, and, it’s I really think that, I feel really excited about the idea that it’s gonna be, that we feel like we can reach farther and do even more than we did in the first one. And, I’m I’m really excited to get back together with everybody that we made the movie with, and, it’s gonna be fun.

Reeves also provided further confirmation that the film will go into production in Spring 2026 saying, “We’ll shoot probably, like, April, April, May, something like that.”

Nothing is known about the plot of the upcoming second film as of yet, but it has been made clear that it will continue to exist in its own universe, separate from the new DC Universe.

The Batman hit theaters on March 4, 2022 and went on to earn $765.95 million dollars globally. The franchise received an interim expansion with the release of The Penguin – an original series with Colin Farrell reprising his role as Oz Cobb from the first film – on Max.

The untitled The Batman sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 1, 2027.
