According to a new interview with DC Studios co-chair James Gunn, a new Wonder Woman movie is currently being written.
Gunn spoke with Entertainment Weekly in support of the upcoming Superman, and revealed that a new Wonder Woman film is indeed in the works. “We’re working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman’s being written right now,” said the studio co-chair.
He also made it clear that this is a separate project from the Paradise Lost series that was previously announced for HBO Max. “Wonder Woman’s a separate thing,” he said, and went on to add that development on that project is “slow moving, but it’s moving.”
As to recent comments from Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav about Superman, Supergirl, Batman, and Wonder Woman being the most important characters, Gunn said, Gunn confirms he has not yet cast the role of Wonder Woman in this new DCU, but he also clarifies Zaslav’s comments. “I think that’s accurate, actually.” He went on to add, “I think that he got that from something I said. I wouldn’t say only those four characters, but I would say that those four characters are incredibly important to us. Right now, I feel great about where two of those characters are, and then we’re dealing with the other two.”
With Superman due out in July, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow releasing in 2026, one would have to imagine attention will soon turn to getting Batman and Wonder Woman into the new DC Universe.
As it stands right now, neither Wonder Woman or Paradise Lost have announced release dates.
