Marvel’s ‘Strange Academy’ May Not Be Dead After All

Earlier this year, Marvel fans got the disappointing news that the development of three Disney+ series, Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc., had been indefinitely paused.

The decision to shelve the projects seemed to be tied to Marvel’s changing television strategy. After the disastrous results of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Secret Invasion, Kevin Feige and his team made the decision to overhaul how Marvel made television shows.

After years of treating streaming series as if they were movies split into installments, Marvel decided to lean into traditional television, aiming to develop stories that could be serialized and enjoyed by fans who were not caught up on the latest MCU film.

The first fruit of this strategic shift was Daredevil: Born Again, which was overhauled midway through production.

After dumping the already-completed Ironheart and Wonder Man, it appeared that Marvel wanted a clean television slate.

‘Nova’ Is Back in Development

Over the course of the last several months, however, it has become apparent that the Strange Academy, Nova, and Terror, Inc. may not be dead after all.

Initially, it was expected that the series would follow Wong’s adventures as he trained young students in the mystic arts.

Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez was also to be featured in the show.

At this time, it is unclear if the MCU stars will reprise their role in the revived Strange Academy or not. What we do know is that Amy Rardin (Echo) is no longer attached to the project, and Marvel is currently looking for a new writer.

While it sounds like it will still be a while before we see Strange Academy come to fruition, fans can take solace in the fact that the show is at least in development.
