If you’re not appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, raise your hand!

Okay, I know a lot of you are lying because Disney just revealed the cast for its next Avengers movie, and it took like six hours.

Let’s talk about Marvel’s strangest announcement video ever in MarvelBlog News.

Are…You…Still…Watching

At one point on Wednesday, March 26^th, the YouTube counter indicated that 100,000 people were watching this video:

I honestly don’t know whether Marvel will edit this at some point, but I caught the live show. It was ridiculous.

Over the course of several hours, Marvel gradually revealed the cast for Avengers: Doomsday.

The purpose of the clip was obvious. Marvel wanted to generate positive buzz in the wake of Captain America: Brave New World.

So, the studio gave hope to all its fans by showing a Who’s Who of beloved Marvel characters plus one we don’t know yet.

I’m about to discuss the implications of each one, but I’ll warn you in advance.

In a way, I may spoil some elements of Thunderbolts*…but maybe not?

We know that Avengers: Doomsday will have a multiversal theme with Robert Downey Jr. playing Victor Von Doom.

Therefore, some of the names we’re talking about may not be playing the characters we’d expect.

Think Chris Evans in Deadpool & Wolverine as an example. And I say this because I’m going to lead with a huge spoiler.

Lewis Pullman will portray The Sentry in Avengers: Doomsday.

As a reminder, “Bob” is the presumed antagonist in Thunderbolts*, which raises all sorts of questions.

Does The Sentry or his nefarious alternate, The Void, survive the events of Thunderbolts?

Or is this a multiversal version of the character? If it’s this, that’s gonna be bad for everyone, as an unhinged Sentry would be even worse.

Notably, much of the cast of Thunderbolts* is listed in these credits as well.

Cast members include David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Florence Pugh, and Wyatt Russell. So, that’s at least five Thunderbolts* characters.

Who Else Is in the Film?

Notably, Danny Ramirez, the sidekick/new Falcon from Captain America: Brave New World, is in the movie.

Marvel had previously confirmed Anthony Mackie would appear as Captain America.

Then, we have the news that members of the Fantastic Four, such as Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, are in the film.

So, we can reasonably conclude that all three MCU movies in 2025 lead directly into elements of Avengers: Doomsday.

Then, we have other pieces as well. Letitia Wright and Winston Duke from the Black Panther franchise are back as well.

Interestingly, so is the actor who portrayed Namor, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, which makes this a de facto sequel to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, too.

But wait! There’s more. Paul Rudd earned the silliest intro of the video, which showed the cast member chairs of the performers.

His was tiny because, you know, Ant-Man! I guess this is Marvel’s way of reminding us that we love Paul Rudd as Ant-Man.

So, let’s all politely agree never to speak of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania again and be happy Rudd is back.

Marvel confirmed that Shang-Chi will join the Avengers, as Simu Liu is in the film, and we got a trio of surprises as well.

First, Beast will appear in the film. You may recall that Marvel added a Kelsey Grammer appearance at the end of The Marvels.

Now, the character is back, and the announcement video even played the theme from X-Men: The Animated Series.

That wasn’t for Grammer, though. It was for Patrick Stewart, who will apparently appear, presumably as another Professor X.

Oh, and Ian McKellen is back as well. He and Stewart certainly weren’t going to do this without each other.

Then, we have the reveal that breaks my brain. Tom Hiddleston will appear as Loki.

Take a Moment to Consider That One

As a reminder, the last time we saw Loki, the Norse prince had become He Who Remains, taking the role from Kang.

So, Hiddleston’s appearance in Avengers: Doomsday opens several fascinating permutations for the story.

Hiddleston is presumably in charge of the TVA now, or maybe he’s just in charge of all reality?

The ending of Loki season two was rather open-ended, but there’s a belief that he’s now the most powerful character in the MCU.

What does this mean for Avengers: Doomsday? I have no idea.

That’s the most exciting cast member announcement for me personally, though.

To a larger point, Marvel has also gotten the band back together.

In addition to Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Hayley Atwell will return as Thor and Peggy (Captain) Carter.

So, Marvel has put together a story that connects all three 2025 stories, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Avengers: Endgame.

There may be some Quantumania in there as well, but I’d ask the waiter to take that off the plate.

Folks, as ridiculous as this whole announcement video sounded, I have to say that it delighted me on an otherwise dark day.

Marvel has reminded guests how much they love all these performers and characters. It was fan service done well.

Now, we wait and hope that the movie is as good as the cast. If so, Avengers: Doomsday will be the biggest blockbuster of 2026.
