MarvelBlog News for February 1st, 2026

I’ve got nine stories to cover today and 1,000 words to tell it all.

So, this will be an efficient, compact week of MarvelBlog News.

Daredevil Rises

Okay, let’s get right to it. Here’s the season two trailer for Daredevil: Born Again:

If you’re anything like my wife, you whooped hollered at the appearance at the 35-second mark.

That one-minute clip offers everything from Jessica Jones (!) to humor to Bullseye to dead people.

Honestly, all I care about is Jessica Jones, but still. That’s a tantalizing clip across the board.

When we last saw Daredevil, he was trapped in The Bad Place, with his mortal enemy ruling the land.

Kingpin hadn’t just become The Mayor; he’d squished the brains out of a good cop in front of people.

Nobody cared because we live in a world where the supervillains seem to be winning.

So, what’s a hero to do? The answer appears to be, “Get by with a little help from (their) friends.”

Matt Murdoch has outsourced his problem to the best of The Defenders, and more help may be on the way.

Actor Mike Colter recently joked that he’s aware of what’s happening on Daredevil.

The artist known as Luke Cage wouldn’t say any more, but I’m hopeful he’ll show up, too.

Then, we have the appearance of the very, very dead Foggy Nelson.

Presumably, that’s a flashback sequence, but it’s the MCU. So, we never really know.

Folks, this trailer is grrrrreat, as was season one of Daredevil: Born Again.

You should have plenty of cause for optimism here, with the MCU on Disney+ apparently on a heater.

Speaking of Which…

So, I resisted all temptations on Wednesday to call in sick and watch Wonder Man all day.

I really, really wanted to do that, though, as I watched the first two episodes on Tuesday night.

The first two recaps are already live on MarvelBlog, but I’ll skip straight to the crux of it.

I am head over heels in love with this show, as are the overwhelming majority of critics.

We have gained a consensus here because Sir Ben Kingsley is absolutely crushing this role.

Kingsley had played The Mandarin twice previously, and now he’s back for more.

While you may think the stakes are lower on a television series than MCU films, Kingsley doesn’t care.

He previously wowed us with the big twist as The Mandarin and then stole scenes in Shang-Chi in the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Somehow, he’s even better now that he’s more than a decade down the line as Trevor Slattery.

Wonder Man’s reception has proven so rapturous that there’s already talk of a season two.

Image: Disney

Why is that surprising? Well, members of the production team recently confided the truth.

Wonder Man experienced so many delays that at one point, it nearly became a tax write-off.

That’s right. We almost didn’t get the buddy comedy duo of Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery.

So, you should savor every second of it, because Wonder Man is a joy to behold.

The Doomsday Update

Avengers: Doomsday isn’t the focus this week for a change, but it’s still in the news.

I presume that statement will remain accurate for the body of 2026; it definitely was in January.

The latest intel involves a bit of jockeying among film studios, with Disney unexpectedly losing.

IMAX has inexplicably chosen Dune as its December movie of note.

Photo: Marvel

Yes, Dune: Part III has locked down all the IMAX screens during its first three weeks in release.

What does this have to do with Marvel? Well, as I mentioned last week, it shares the same release date as Doomsday.

Photo: Marvel

Folks, you’re reading that right. IMAX will exhibit Dune: Part III rather than Avengers: Doomsday.

At least, that’s what Warner Bros. Discovery executives are saying right now.

We’ve still got ten months before both films debut, and a delay is possible for either one.

This move sure seems to be posturing on Dune’s part to push Marvel to move Doomsday.

While I don’t think that’ll happen, the lack of IMAX screens will hurt Doomsday’s box office.

IMAX exhibitions pay the best, which makes this an indefensible decision by IMAX itself.

The exhibitor will lose a fortune by choosing Dune over The Avengers. That’s just math.

So, stay tuned here, as this odd story is still evolving.

Okay, we’ve still got six (!) stories to go. So, let’s go fast.

First, as Justin Hermes mentioned, Sam Raimi says he won’t be doing Spider-Man 4.

According to the revered director, he long ago passed the torch to someone new.

Raimi intends to honor that decision by staying away despite the extreme temptation to return.

Speaking of Spidey, Sony has delayed the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Don’t freak out, though. The film will debut one week later on July 31st, 2026.

On the confirmed news front, we also just learned that Hawkeye season two is dead.

As always, I’ll add “for now” to that statement, but it’s sadly true in the short term.

The timing couldn’t align, and since Hawkeye is currently pregnant, nothing will change soon.

On the good news front, a recent Puck article suggested that Ryan Reynolds has a plan.

With the actor’s PR rep taking a recent hit, he’s planning on a big comeback with the obvious film.

Yes, the actor is working on another Deadpool film, which I presume would be Deadpool & Wolverine 2.

That isn’t confirmed yet, but it makes the most sense. And speaking of rumors…

No, Mark Ruffalo wasn’t fired from the MCU. Duh. However, he’s apparently not in Avengers: Doomsday.

We already knew this since he’s switching to Spider-Man movies in the short term.

Why is this suddenly a hot rumor? I have no idea. But while we’re talking rumors…

An X-Force movie may be in the offing. Stay tuned on that one!
