Elizabeth Olsen Sounds Ready To Return to the MCU; Says Super Hero Films Are “For Fans”

One of the biggest questions hanging over the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is the status of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff.

The undisputed breakout star of the post-Endgame MCU, Wanda finally got a chance to shine in WandaVision, before her story took a dark turn in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

By the end of the second Doctor Strange film, it appeared that Wanda had sacrificed herself to destroy the Darkhold.

Is Wanda Alive?

Nevertheless, in the three years since Multiverse of Madness hit theaters, fans have continued to hope that Wanda somehow survived.

While the Scarlet Witch has yet to turn up again, her presence has loomed over every Marvel production of late, particularly Agatha All Along and Ironheart.

With the Avengers set to assemble for a multiversal adventure in Avengers: Doomsday, fans have eagerly waited for a hint that Wanda will return.

“It Is Something That I Love”

It is against this backdrop that Elizabeth Olsen discussed her Marvel career as part of the Hamptons International Film Festival’s A Conversation With series.

More so than anytime in recent memory, Olsen seemed open to returning to the MCU.

“It is something that I love, and it’s something I always want to return to,” she said inside Sag Harbor Cinema. “I think the thing that’s been so special about the last five years is I’ve gotten to do so much with the character that I never thought I would. There are still character through lines that have happened in the comics that I’d love to do that I think fans also want to.”

“These Movies Are For Fans”

When discussing the idea that superhero fatigue has set in, Olsen admitted that some may have grown tired of Marvel’s franchise.

The fans, however, have not.

“I mean, these movies aren’t for critics, these movies are for fans,” Olsen bluntly stated.

“It’s really fruitful, and the stories have only gotten better for me, my character. I really enjoyed it,” she continued.

“Some people have ongoing television series that they get to return to. Very few, I feel like, get to be a part of franchises that, I know we might culturally get a little bit exhausted by, but there is something about them that becomes very familial.”

Will Olsen Return?

Based on Olsen’s latest comments, it sounds like the actress would be more than happy to play Wanda again, and perhaps even for the long haul.

With the multiverse set together and Wanda’s fate left unclear, Marvel has every narrative reason to bring The Scarlet Witch back.

Hopefully, it happens sooner rather than later.\
