One of the biggest questions hanging over the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is the status of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff.
The undisputed breakout star of the post-Endgame MCU, Olsen’s Scarlet Witch finally got a chance to shine in WandaVision before her story took a dark turn in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

By the end of the second Doctor Strange film, it appeared that Wanda had sacrificed herself to destroy the Darkhold.
Will Wanda Return
While fans held out hope that the former Avenger would somehow reappear in Agatha All Along, it was not to be.

With the Marvel multiverse set to collide in Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: Doomsday, all eyes have been on Olsen.
Late last year, the actress sounded open to making her Marvel return.

“It is something that I love, and it’s something I always want to return to,” she said at the Sag Harbor Cinema.
“I think the thing that’s been so special about the last five years is I’ve gotten to do so much with the character that I never thought I would. There are still character through lines that have happened in the comics that I’d love to do, and that I think fans also want to see.”

Olsen’s Latest Comments
During a recent appearance at C2E2 last weekend, Olsen was asked if she had any updates on her MCU future.

“I know nothing. I know about VisionQuest because I’ve seen Paul Bettany in the last six months. I know nothing about any of it. Is Secret Wars what happens after? I’m not kidding. Why did I think there were two Secret Wars? Are there not?”
While it remains possible that Scarlet Witch could return in Avengers: Secret Wars and Olsen is simply keeping things under wraps, for now, it looks like fans may need to temper their expectations.

Between the upcoming multiversal epics and VisionQuest, there are still plenty of opportunities for Wanda Maximoff to return.
For now, however, her future in the MCU remains uncertain.
