‘Elio’ and ‘Zootopia 2’ Top the List of Disney Annie Award Nominees


ASIFA-Hollywood revealed the Annie Award nominees this morning, and once again, Disney came away a big winner.

Since 1972, the Annie Awards have celebrated the medium of animation, honoring excellence across film, television, and streaming.

Considered the most prestigious award in animation, Annie winners often go on to perform well at the Academy Awards.

So, without further ado, here are the Disney nominees.

‘Elio’ and ‘Pixar’ Lead the Way

Once again, Disney looks poised to take home the Annie for Best Feature, with both Elio and Zootopia 2 nominated for the award.

Overall, Zootopia 2 was Disney Animation’s big winner, picking up seven nominations.

Elio, on the other hand, scored an astounding 10 nods.

The two films face stiff competition in the Best Feature category from KPOP Demon Hunters, Little Amelie or the Character of Rain, and The Bad Guys 2.

As an aside, Captain America: Brave New World earned a nomination for Best Character in Animation – Live Action.

Streaming Nominees

Moving over to streaming, Pixar once again led the way for Disney.

The studio’s first original streaming series, Win or Lose, picked up six Annie Award nominations, including Best TV Media – Limited Series.

The series was joined in that category by Marvel Zombies, which also picked up two nods.

Other Disney streaming nominees included Star Wars: Visions (2 nominations), Not Just a Goof,  and Eyes of Wakanda.

The winners will be announced on February 21 at the 53rd Annual Annie Awards in Los Angeles.
