On May 1, 2026, the Marvel multiverse will come together for Avengers: Doomsday.
The next great Avengers story will see the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom and will be directed by the Russo Brothers. The question for fans, however, has been: which of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will suit up?

Today, Marvel officially announced that filming on Avengers: Doomsday has begun, with the cast assembled in London. Throughout the day, the studio will slowly but surely reveal which Marvel stars will return for the highly anticipated cinematic event.
Avengers Assemble!
The reveal began with Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, and Anthony Mackie. Hemsworth, of course, will reprise his role as Thor, while Mackie will return as Captain America.

Kirby will follow her debut as the Invisible Girl in the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps with an appearance in Doomsday. She will be joined by her Fantastic Four teammates Ebron Moss-Bachran (Thing), Pedro Pascal (Mr. Incredible), and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm).

As the reveal continued throughout the afternoon, Marvel announced that Sebastian Stan will be suiting up again as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier.

Joining him will be Letitia Wright, who will be reprising her role as Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd, who will once again play Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Rudd got a comically small chair).

Wyatt Russell, who is reprising his role as John Walker/U.S. Agent in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Thunderbolts*, will also return for Avengers: Doomsday. He will be joined by his Thunderbolts teammates Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost) and Lewis Pullman (Sentry)

The antihero Namor will also return, as revealed by Tenoch Hurta Mejia’s chair. He will joined by his Black Panther: Wakanda Forever costar Winston Duke (M’Baku).

For the first time since Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Simu Liu will return to the MCU for Doomsday.

Danny Ramirez will also be suiting up, reprising his role as Joaquin Torres/Falcon.

While it seemed like Tom Hiddleson’s time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) had come to an end with the release of Loki Season 2, the actor will reprise his role as the new god of stories in Avengers: Doomsday.

Here Come the X-Men
Perhaps the most surprising name revealed thus far is Kelsey Grammer, who will seemingly be reprising his X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past role as Beast. Grammer’s only MCU appearance has been a brief cameo in The Marvels.

Joining Grammer in Avengers: Doomsday will be Patrick Stewart, who will reprise his iconic role as Professor Charles Xavier for the first time since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Also suiting up again will be Ian McKellen, who will reprise his unforgettable role as Magneto.

Alan Cumming, yet another Fox X-Men star, will return for Doomsday as Nightcrawler.

Another returning name from the original X-Men trilogy is Rebecca Romijn. The actress first appeared as Mystique in 2000’s X-Men before reprising her role as the shapeshifting mutant in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: First Class.

James Marsden, who portrayed Scott Summers/Cyclops in X-Men, X2: X-Men United, and X-Men: The Last Stand, will also make his MCU debut in Avengers: Doomsday.

While never officially appearing in an X-Men film, Channing Tatum will reprise his Deadpool & Wolverine role as Gambit in the next Avengers film.
