The Man Without Fear Returns TONIGHT When ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Debuts on Disney+

A new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will unfold before our eyes tonight when Daredevil: Born Again debuts on Disney+.

A continuation of the Daredevil series that ran on Netflix from 2015-2018, the show will see the return of familiar faces, including Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Wilson Fisl/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), Karen Page (played by Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (played by Elden Henson), and Frank Castle/The Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal).

Joining them will be several new characters, including former NYC DA Kirsten Mcduffie (played by Nikki James) and therapist Heather Glenn (played by Margarita Levieva).

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Has Been a Long Time Coming

Originally announced in 2022, Daredevil: Born Again has had a problematic development that saw the series overhauled halfway through production. Now, however, the creative team is excited to show audiences what they have been working on.

“We’ve all had one goal in common: to do a show that the fans are waiting to see, and we’ve put a lot of effort into doing that,” D’Onofrio said.

Return to the Streets

While Daredevil: Born Again is set in the MCU, the series will bring audiences down to a street-level. Against the backdrop of New York City, the show will feel like its own world.

“It’s really like the comics where you would pick up an issue of Daredevil and you want to stay in a grounded, street-based ecosystem,” Marvel’s head of streaming Brad Winderbaum said.

“It looks at New York as being kind of this medieval kingdom filled with power struggles and deceit and unexpected acts of loyalty. It’s an amazing tapestry that [showrunner] Dario Scardapane and team have built.”

A New Tone For the MCU

Like Echo before it, Daredevil: Born Again will carry a TV-MA rating. According to Winderbaum, the gritty tone of the series was essential to the story that they wanted to tell.

“If you look back at the comic books, there’s an array of tones and genres and comedy and drama and action to choose from. But it’s never tonally one thing,” Winderbaum explained. “Being able to explore that darker tone that many of the comics live in is an important part of the storytelling process for the studio, but also something that Disney has really been supportive in helping us explore.”

D’Onorfrio agreed with Winderabaum’s assessment.

“They really trust us and they’ve been really great with us about everything when it comes to Daredevil. And we couldn’t ask for better people to work for,” D’Onofrio said.
