Chris Evans Breaks His Silence on His ‘Doomsday’ Return

With just months to go until the Marvel multiverse converges in Avengers: Doomsday, anticipation for the film continues to build.

Earlier this week, Marvel’s biggest stars gathered at CinemaCon, where they offered exhibitors a preview of what is to come.

Among those in attendance were Kevin Feige, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Evans.

While Avengers: Doomsday features a star-studded cast that includes the Fantastic Four, Fox’s X-Men, the Thunderbolts, and a wide array of Avengers such as Thor, Shang-Chi, Captain America, Falcon, Ant-Man, and Black Panther, one of the most significant returns is that of Steve Rogers.

Steve Rogers Will Return

The last time audiences saw Steve, he chose to travel back in time to live a full life with Peggy Carter before passing his shield to Sam Wilson.

At the time, it appeared his story had come to a close.

With the events of Avengers: Doomsday, that will change.

An early teaser reportedly showed Steve riding his motorcycle home to Peggy. In another moment, he is seen holding a baby.

“Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday,” the teaser concludes.

Chris Evans Breaks His Silence

Months after his return was first revealed, Evans has now addressed the decision to come back.

“I said I would only come back if there was a real reason, and in Doomsday, there’s a very real reason why these heroes need Steve Rogers,” he said at CinemaCon.

According to attendees at the Las Vegas event, Marvel also previewed footage of Thor rallying the Avengers.

During a pivotal moment, Steve Rogers appears and summons Mjolnir to his hand.

Clearly, the timing was right for Chris Evans to return.
