Ernakulam Central Police in Kochi have filed a case against Malayalam actress Shwetha Menon for allegedly featuring in obscene movies and advertisements for financial gain. As per a report by Malayalam news website Mathrubhumi, a public activist named Martin Menachery submitted a complaint against the actress, following which the Ernakulam CJM court asked local police to take action. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Obscenity Act and the IT Act.

Shwetha Menon booked for featuring in condom ad and obscene films

Police have filed an FIR against Shwetha Menon, who has worked in Malayalam films Rathinirvedam and Salt N’ Pepper, and in Hindi movies including Bandhan starring Salman Khan and Asoka with Shah Rukh Khan. The actress allegedly acted in films and advertisements, which featured nudity, to gain profit. The complaint mentions Shwetha Menon’s roles in films such as Rathinirvedam, Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha, and Kalimannu, with her appearance in a condom ad.

On the work front, Shwetha Menon is in the running to contest for the post of the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) in the elections to its governing body, which will be held on August 15. Actor Jagadeesh, including four candidates who filed nominations for the post, have withdrawn their nominations before the last date of withdrawal on Thursday, as per AMMA sources. Shwetha was last seen in the Malayalam thriller drama Jankar and will be seen in the Malayalam action thriller Karam, which will be released in September.

As of now, there is no official statement from Shwetha or her team about the same. Based on these allegations, the FIR has charges under Sections 3 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The actress made her acting debut in 1991 with the Malayalam film Anaswaram. She was part of Hindi films like Ishq, Shikari, Prithvi, Khatron Ke Khiladi, Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya, Vadh, Anokha Bandhan, Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye, Kahaan Ho Tum, Maqbool, Hungama, Run, Corporate, Sandwich, Kisse Pyaar Karoon and many more.
