Recently, V, aka Kim Taehyung, was mobbed by fans and media at the airport, causing chaos. On that matter, BTS members have talked about the incident and decided to start the Purple Ribbon Project and start the ARMY-led initiative.

In a recent live stream on Weverse, V talked about the incident at the airport and explained how stressful the situation was. The K-pop star also said that he wanted to pose for photos with the people, but due to safety concerns, he can’t.

V said, ‘I also want to strike pretty poses but because of the matter of safety, the airport doesn’t belong to us does it. If ARMYs can just make sure to stay safe/orderly, please do me this favor. Then in the morning I can spend 10 more minutes thinking on what to wear. If our ARMYs can make purple line project happen again, woah. Then I might just show up there wearing a suit.’

The Purple Ribbon Project was started by the ARMY to ensure the members are not overcrowding, pushing, and dangerous or unpredictable behaviour from any hostile fans.

When did the Purple Ribbon Project first take place?

The project not only helps the members but also helps reduce chaos in the area. The first Purple Ribbon Project took place in May 2018 at Los Angeles International Airport. The ARMY stood in line carrying purple ribbons and gave the BTS members freedom to walk.
