Irked with the decision to rope in Pakistani artist Hania Aamir for Sardaar Ji 3, FWICE wants the passport of the team to be revoked.
Makers of the much-anticipated Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3 – which features Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, Indian stars Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa in key roles – unveiled the movie trailer on June 23. Since then, there has been massive backlash about Diljit promoting Pakistani actors and singers amid tension between the two nations.
Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) was also quick to express “deep outrage” and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take immediate and punitive action against the film’s protagonist Diljit Dosanjh. As reported by ANI, the FWICE has slammed producers Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu and director Amar Hundal.
FWICE had also made an appeal to Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar, and Minister of Information & Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw to take strict action against Diljit, Gunbir, Manmord and Amar. As FWICE mentioned, Hania’s casting for the film “not only defies the laws” of our country, but also “insults the soul of our nation”.
FWICE slams Diljit, Hania Aamir
As mentioned in the letter written by FWICE, Diljit and his team’s decision to rope in Hania for the film was an “unpardonable act”. As reported by ANI, FWICE’s letter to PM Modi read, “This decision is not a mere creative choice — it is a willful affront to the sovereignty, dignity, and security of India.”
The letter referred to Hania as “vocal propagandist against India”. who used her platform to “mock our armed forces, abuse India publicly, and shamelessly justify Pakistan’s terror acts post Operation Sindoor”. According to FWICE, Hania’s inclusion in any Indian film is an insult to “every Indian citizen, every martyr, and every family affected by cross-border terrorism.”
FWICE not convinced with Diljit’s loyalty towards India?
The letter also mentioned that by roping in a Pakistani artist, the film’s team has proved “where their loyalties lie”. FWICE further referred to Diljit and his team’s actions are a “gross betrayal of the nation that gave them fame, fortune, and identity. It is a direct insult to every soldier who defends our borders, every family mourning a martyr, and every citizen who stands proudly under the Indian flag.”
FWICE had also approached the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification and urged them to levy a ban on the film’s release in India. They also demanded the denial of censor certification.
