Showrunner Lauren LeFranc has made it clear she is uncertain if there will ever be a Penguin season 2, just from a story perspective.
Speaking with Deadline, LeFranc has said, “Beyond Colin [Farrell], it depends on whether there’s a story that we can make richer than what we’ve already done.”
She went on to add, “I fully arced everything. I’m in the process of exploring what that would be, if there will be more.”
This doesn’t mean, however, that we’re done seeing the Batman Epic Crime Saga expand on television. LeFranc did confirm that “we’re in early stages” of other The Batman spinoffs, but offered no hint as to what those may be.
The interview was part of the campaign for the upcoming Emmy nominations. In conjunction with the interview, the script for the series finale has also been released with a forward from LeFranc.
The Emmy nominations will be announced on July 14, 2025, and the ceremony will be held on Sept. 14, 2025.
